CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT HOW TO BECOME A MORRIS DANCER!
We are a mixed (all welcome) Cotswold Morris dancing side based in the historic market town of Uttoxeter.
Since 1954, the Uttoxeter Heart of Oak Morris have kept this tradition alive in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire, dancing in Uttoxeter itself and in local towns and villages. Most dancing takes place between the months of May and August, but the side can also be seen at markets and other events throughout the year and in Uttoxeter Market Place on Boxing Day. Recently the side has performed a traditional mummers play on Boxing Day. Uttoxeter Morris belong to the Morris Ring of Great Britain, an umbrella organisation of some 150 Morris sides.
What We Do
Uttoxeter Morris take bookings for events throughout the year, and organise informal ‘dance-outs’ at local pubs on alternate Thursday nights between May and August – a full list of both can be seen on the calendar of events. Talks and demonstrations can also be booked for schools and adult groups. As well as traditionally dancing in Uttoxeter Market Place on Boxing Day at 12 noon, we are also regularly seen at village fetes, markets, festivals and other events around the local area, often joined by our friends from Stafford Morris as we've struggled with numbers recently. This is changing though since our latest recruitment campaign! If you would like to see us at your event, or wish to join us, get in touch on the Contact Us page or see the Join Us page for more info on how you can get involved.
